Mission

The Order of Clear Mind Zen is established to bring the Dharma into the World.

The Order of Clear Mind Zen is a Socially Engaged Sangha.

Clear Mind is Buddha Mind.

Socially Engaged Zen Activities

We work toward fulfilling the Three Pure Precepts.  These are

1. Cease Doing Evil
2. Do Good
3. Bring about abundant good for all beings.

We understand these precepts as a call to social action.  We manifest this through what we call streetZen.

Bearing Witness:  We practice silent witness to human suffering. Two areas of current focus are peace and the hunger.

Soup Kitchen Work: Our Sangha volunteers on the second Saturday of each month at the local soup kitchen in Las Cruces. We also participate in food drives.

Becoming a Witness involves a willingness to sit Zazen at times and places where a sitting Buddha will be both a reminder and a plea for peace and lovingkindness.  To become a witness for peace and non-violence simply join us. We sit Monday afternoon at the Veteran’s Park rotunda in Las Cruces, NM at 5:00 PM; Wednesday afternoon at the Federal Building at 4:30 PM; and Saturday morning at the Southwest Environmental Center at 9:00 AM.

Volunteers.  Offer to help, create a food drive, or donate your time, skill, and resources to local projects to end hunger, poverty, war, violence and other social injustices.  We must advocate for non-violent solutions to conflict and support efforts to end war.
